| 英文描述 | Myotonia congenita is hereditary, and is characterized by continued muscular contraction following the removal of the inciting stimulus. Spasms of the limbs follow a sudden stimulus. Signs are worse after rest and the animal may warm out of it. Muscular hypertrophy is often seen. Electromyography gives a typical 'dive bomber' pattern when the sound is amplified. May be confused with seizures. Percussion dimples often can be elicited. Rare in large animals, but seen, usually at 3-6 months of age, in many breeds of dogs. Rare in cats. Dx by EMG, CPK. |
