| 英文描述 | Although nitrate is relatively non-toxic, ruminants convert it into the more toxic nitrite, leading to a sometimes fatal methemaglobinemia. High nitrate hay such as oat hay and other grains, corn fodder grown during drought, rape, kale, turnips, beets, and mangels are common sources. Brown colored blood is a characteristic sign. Dx made by analysis of rumen fluids or aqueous humor for nitrites. |
