| 英文描述 | Infection of cattle with SARCOCYSTIS, a protozoan parasite related to coccidia, is common. Overwhelming infection can cause clinical signs. Spread by carnivores. Dx by demonstration of the organism at necropsy or by titers. Signs other than abortion seem to be uncommon in the field. There are rare reports of this organism causing muscle disease or infecting nervous tissue and causing encephalitis. Sarcocystosis can be produced experimentally in sheep and goats; group outbreaks of weakness, ataxia and paresis of growing lambs have been associated with sarcocystis infection in sheep. Laryngeal hemiplegia was associated with SARCOCYSTIS species infection in a ram. |
