| 英文描述 | Drugs administered to an animal may produce fever as a result of allergy or by non immune-mediated mechanisms. There may be release of endogenous pyrogens or direct disruption of cell membranes resulting in a rise in body temperature. Pyrogens in improperly distilled water used for drug preparation can cause fever. In addition some drugs may cause body temperature to rise by uncoupling oxidative phosporylation. Although very high fevers can be seen, sustained low-grade fevers during therapy are more common. Drug fever should be suspected when the magnitude of the fever is out of proportion with the appearance of the animal, which may be bright and alert. |
