| 中文描述 | 隱睪症就是因為睪丸沒有正常下降到陰囊。反芻動物和豬是在出生時就會下降。狗及馬則是在出生或是出生後幾天下降。貓則是在出生後2-5天下降。會發生在雄性動物或中性動物。診斷方式是在沒有切除睪丸的雄性可觀察到陰囊中沒有睪丸。隱睪症被認為是遺傳疾病。雙側隱睪症會不孕。馬匹的隱睪症可藉由賀爾蒙檢查得知。也可用超音波攝影檢查。無睪丸隱睪症則缺乏檢測方法。 |

| 英文描述 | Cryptorchidism is characterized by the failure of the testis to descend. In ruminants and pigs the testes are typically descended at birth; in dogs and horses they are descended at birth or within a few days of birth; in cats descent occurs 2-5 days after birth. Can occur in genetically male animals or in intersexes. Dx by lack of a testis in the scrotum of non-castrated males. Is considered a hereditary condition. Bilateral cryptorchids are infertile. Hormonal tests can be used to assist in diagnosis of cryptorchidism in horses. Ultrasonography has also been used for diagnosis. Anorchidism the is absence of testes. |
