| 英文描述 | Prolonged or excessive pressure with a hot dehorning iron in kids can cause burn injury to underlying bone, meninges and brain because the frontal sinus is undeveloped and the frontal bone is thin. A series of cases has been described in which sudden death occurred from a few hours to 3 weeks following dehorning, and in which thermal meningoencepahlitis was the only finding. Brain necrosis has also been reported in calves following gouge dehorning, possibly due to clostridial meningitis. Dx by necropsy and ruling out other causes. |
