| 英文描述 | Osteopetrosis is a congenital disease of Angus, Hereford, Simmental, and Dutch Fresian calves characterized by absence of the bone marrow cavities due to defective remodeling. Inherited as an autosomal recessive in Angus and Herefords. Most affected calves are stillborn, but some live for a short time. Dx by examination of the skeleton at necropsy. These calves are often born prematurely, and this can be mistaken for an abortion problem. A similar, though less severe, form of osteopetrosis has been reported in foals, but the heritability in horses is unknown. |
