| 英文描述 | In 1989, 32 full-term Charolais calves were born on a farm in New Zealand; the calves had very shortened limbs and enlarged joints. On histology there were poor cartilage maturation and excessive amounts of rarefied cartilage matrix. There was improvement as some of the animals grew, although their legs remained bent and shortened for several months. The liver of an affected calf was low in manganese, and the diet was also low in manganese, leading to the suspicion that this might be due to a manganese deficiency (Valero et al.). No treatment was described, although supplementation with manganese was recommended. |
