Often these are young or high-producing dairy cattle or suckling beef cattle; prolonged luteal phase and delayed first ovulation are common causes. In beef cattle the acyclic period is inversely correlated with body weight at calving, and cows exposed to short photoperiods during late pregnancy might have longer acyclic periods. |
