| 英文描述 | Rare. A metabolic defect leads to accumulation of an aberrant porphyrin. Seen in several breeds of cattle. Affected cattle suffer from photosensitization when exposed to sunlight. Pink to brown discoloration of the teeth is a characteristic of porphyria. Dx by identification of excess uroporphyrins in the urine. There is no specific treatment, but affected animals should be removed from sunlight and eliminated from the breeding program. |
