| 英文描述 | Outbreaks of urinary tract disease occurred in beef cattle in southern Portugal. Cattle of the Portugese Mertolenga breed 4 years of age or older were most severely affected; the disease was not seen in animals under 1 year of age. Dysuria and urinary bladder distention, often accompanied by thickening and edema of the bladder, were common findings. Eye disease was seen in some affected cattle. Morbidity, mortality and fatality were high, with a disease course of 2 weeks to over 5 months in fatal cases. Recovery took 4 months to over a year. The cause is unknown, but suspicion fell on winter browsing of the plant CISTUS SALVIIFOLIUS. |
