| 英文描述 | In hemochromatosis, inappropriately large amounts of iron are absorbed from the gut over an extended period of time. Storage of excess iron in parenchymal tissue, particularly liver, leads to organ failure. An inherited form of hemochromatosis has been described in Salers cattle. Clinical signs including emaciation and (in some animals) loss of incisors, developed after about 8 months of age. Liver biopsy, biochemical evidence of hepatic injury, and/or elevated transferrin saturation values can be useful for diagnosis. |
