| 英文描述 | This is a disease of unknown etiology that has been reported only in adult Pointer dogs. A bacterial etiology is suspected. It is characterized by cervical hyperesthesia, tetraparesis, and cranial nerve deficits (paralysis of the trigeminal and facial nerves, Horner's syndrome). CSF abnormalities are suggestive of bacterial meningoencepalitis. Dx is by breed, signs, histopath- ology. Antibiotic therapy has led to temporary remission of signs in some cases, but euthanasia has been necessary in each case as a result of disease progression (Meric). Histopathologic changes include inflammatory infiltrates in the leptomeninges and parenchyma. Perivascular cuffs are seen, and ischemic cord damage can occur. The cause is unknown. |
