| 英文描述 | Myasthenia gravis is due to a dysfunction of neuromuscular transmission at the neuromuscular junction. Episodes of weakness are precipitated by exercise, and can be reversed by administration of neostigmine or edrophonium chloride. There might be megaesophagus, and adult-onset idiopathic megaesophagus might be a focal form of acquired myasthenia gravis. Both late onset and congenital forms of myasthenia are seen, and both forms may be inherited in some dog breeds. There is often a concurrent thymoma and secondary pneumonia. Rare in cats; Abyssinians (and related Somalis) may be predisposed. Dx by finding an increase in acetylcholine receptor (AChR) antibodies. |
