This is due to a combination of several anatomic problems associated with their abnormally developed skulls, which distort the nasopharynx. Problems include stenotic nares, elongated soft palate, eversion of the laryngeal saccules, laryngeal collapse, laryngeal edema, and hypoplastic trachea. Following treatment for the acute attack, the animal should be examined for the primary cause. |
