| 中文描述 | 糖尿病中的血糖過高症是起因於相對或絕對的缺少胰島素.糖尿病可能會在糖尿病酮症酸中毒之後發生或伴隨一些其他疾病同時發生.糖尿病大多發生在中老年的母狗身上,但是也曾有報導指出有年輕的狗得到糖尿病,經由組織切片的證據顯示,是由於胰細胞的發育不全所導致.也有發生在小貓的案例.有的案例會出現多發性神經病變.糖尿病起因於大量的生長荷爾蒙使得胰島素的抵抗的情形在貓身上曾經發生過. |

| 英文描述 | Hyperglycemia in diabetes mellitus is due to a relative or absolute lack of insulin. Diabetes mellitus can be followed by diabetic ketoacidosis or diabetes with concurrent disease. More common in middle to old age intact female dogs but has been reported in young dogs in association with histologic evidence of pancreatic cell hypoplasia and was described in a kitten. Polyneuropathy occurs in some cases. Diabetes due to high levels of growth hormone causing insulin resistance has been seen in the cat. |
