| 英文描述 | A gastrin secreting tumor of the non-beta islet cells of the pancreas can cause clinical disease. Hypergastrinemia results in hyperchlorhydria and gastric mucosal hypertrophy. Increased gastric acid secretion may cause peptic ulceration of the stomach, duodenum, or reflux esophagitis. Other signs include hypocalcemia and steatorrhea due to inactivation of pancreatic lipase and precipitation of bile salts. Should be considered in animals with persistent vomiting and diarrhea and evidence of mucosal ulceration. Dx by demonstrating hyperchlorhydria and increased serum concentration of gastrin. Perforation of ulcers is a potential complication. |
