| 英文描述 | Exocrine pancreatic insufficiency is due to a lack of synthesis and secretion of pancreatic digestive enzymes into the intestinal lumen. This may be a result of chronic pancreatitis, juvenile pancreatic atrophy, decreased function in severe protein-calorie malnutrition, or rarely following acute hemorrhagic pancreatitis. There is evidence that pancreatic acinar atrophy has an autosomal recessive mode of inheritance in German Shepherd dogs. The lack of digestive enzymes and bicarbonate secretion results in acidification of the gut, malnutrition and weight loss, and voluminous stools containing undigested fat, muscle fibers and protein. |
