| 英文描述 | MESOCESTOIDES is a tapeworm which can localize in the peritoneal cavity of dogs causing clinical signs, often including ascites. Radiographic findings may include a fluid-filled distended abdomen with a granular appearance and loss of detail. In a few cases there may be 2-10 mm diameter smooth, multifocal, calcified densities. Diagnosis requires the demonstration of tetrathyridia in the abdominal effusion, (which is an exudate), but abdominocentesis can yield false-negative results due to comparmentalization of the organisms in the peritoneal cavity. The clinical course is often insidious, with signs of a nonspecific gastrointestinal disorder followed by abdominal distention. There is a report of testicular necrosis caused by this organism. |
