| 英文描述 | This is a disease of the long bones of young large-breed dogs; clinical signs typically begin at 5-12 months of age. Middle-aged dogs, usually German Shepherds, are occasionally affected. Etiology is unknown. It presents as a shifting leg lameness, usually of sudden onset, with pain on deep palpation of bone. The humerus, proximal ulna and femur are most commonly affected. Dx is based on radiology, with an increase in density and decrease in detail in the medullary area. May have patchy densities and periosteal new bone formation. The trabecular pattern is coarser than normal. The disease is self limiting, with recovery usually complete by 18-20 months of age. |
