| 英文描述 | Dilated cardiomyopathy is a common acquired cardiovascular disease of dogs characterized by cardiac chamber enlargements and decreased contractile function. There is pathology in the heart muscle without previous disease of other structures such as the valves or coronary vessels. Congestive cardiomyopathy affects mainly large-breed middle-aged dogs, but young dogs with this syndrome have been described. Cause is unknown but there is evidence for a genetic etiology of dilated cardiomyopathy in some breeds and taurine deficiency has been identified as a cause. Diagnosis of cardiomyopathy is based on clinical signs, ECG findings, radiology, and echocardiography. Slowly progressive heart failure or sudden death can be seen. |
