| 英文描述 | Hemolytic anemia and signs of gastroenteritis were reported in dogs ingesting onions (ALLIUM SP.). Dx is based on history, and signs. The anemia is associated with Heinz bodies in the erythrocytes. The source of the onions has included dehydrated onions, a raw onion, and table scraps containing cooked onions. Experimentally there was diarrhea for 1 or 2 days following onion administration, with anemia developing over several days, and the anemia in clinical cases may not develop until a few days after onion consumption. ALLIUM SATIVUM, cultivated garlic, has produced hemolysis in experimental dogs, and it is suspected that some dogs might be susceptible to hemolytic anemia due to intestion of garlic. |
