| 英文描述 | Inversion or eversion of the nictitating membrane may be caused by a congenital growth deformity of the cartilage. Eversion is more common. Predisposed breeds include the St. Bernard, German Shepherd, Great Dane, German Shorthair, English Bulldog, and Weimaraner. Prominence of the nictitating membrane may also be associated with a syndrome of progressive enopthalmos and elevation of the membrane, and may be accompanied by atrophy of musculature of the head. Etiology is unknown. Most common in middle to old age dogs. Dx by signs, exam, rule- out of other causes. Conditions are usually bilateral. |
