| 中文描述 | 這是一種少見的藻類感染，感染的程度根據宿主的免疫耐受性，此種藻類常寄生在結腸的下端引起疾病。眼睛，神經，及皮膚的症狀也可見。主要的微生物為PROTOTHECA WICKERHAMII 和
P. ZOPFII。可由培養或組織切片中的藻類而鑑定之。如果發生眼疾及血痢可能與此病有關。 |

| 英文描述 | This is a rare algal infection. Infection may be dependent on the host's immune competence. The algae usually colonize the lower colon with signs of colonic disease. Ocular, neurologic, or skin signs have also been reported. The organisms involved are PROTOTHECA WICKERHAMII and P. ZOPFII. Dx by culture or identification of the algae in tissue sections. Should be considered in cases presenting with eye lesions and/or protracted bloody diarrhea. |
