| 英文描述 | Acute and chronic infections due to STAPHYLOCOCCUS occur worldwide, in both commercial and pet birds. Caused primarily by pathogenic strains of STAPHYLOCOCCUS AUREUS, and turkeys are most commonly affected. Has been isolated from egg shell and yolk sac and can be transmitted to progeny. Can cause arthritis and synovitis in young poults, especially in winter. Spondylitis, infection of the 5th, 6th, and 7th cervical vertebrae, leads to compression of the spinal cord. |
