| 英文描述 | Traumatic reticulitis due to penetration of the reticulum by a metallic foreign body is common due to the indiscriminate eating habits of cattle. Can lead to secondary pericarditis, peritonitis, 'vagal indigestion', splenitis and hepatitis. Occurs in other ruminants, but very rare due to the fastidious eating habits of sheep and goats. Sudden deaths occur if there is laceration of a coronary vessel. Hematological signs of chronic infection are often present, ultrasound can be of value, and radiography can confirm the presence of a metallic object, but final confirmation requires surgery. Reticulo-omasal obstruction due to non-metallic foreign bodies has been described. |
