| 英文描述 | Congenital progressive ovine muscular dystrophy is seen in Australian Merino sheep. Animals can be first affected as early as 3-4 weeks of age, but the majority of cases show abnormalities in gait at 6-12 months old. Progression is variable, but there is often a severe abnormality of the gait by 2-3 years of age; there is a swinging hind leg gait with decreased femorotibial and hock joint flexion. Affected sheep have higher resting and post-exercise CPK levels, and the rise of CPK post-exercise is higher in affected sheep than in normal animals. Histology shows rounded fibers with sarcoplasmic masses. Lesions are found consistently in the vastus intermedius, and sometimes in the vastus lateralis, vastus medialis, rectus femoris and diaphragm. Inherited as an autosomal recessive. Ruminal tympany occurs in some affected animals. |
