| 英文描述 | A congenital goiter in Merino sheep is due to an inherited defect in the biosynthesis of thyroid hormone, with a secondary increase in TSH levels. Most goitrous lambs are stillborn or die soon after birth, but survivors have signs persisting through life. Due to an autosomal recessive gene with high penetrance and variable expressivity. A similar syndrome was reported in polled Dorset lambs. |
