| 英文描述 | Ankylosis of the limbs, especially the forelimbs, is a recessive lethal in some species, including Tamworth and Swedish White pigs. Most common in Charolais cattle, in which it can be associated with other defects, such as cleft palate and spina bifida. In horses recessive and dominant modes of inheritance have been described. In the Norwegian Fjord Horse the joint lesions were accompanied by polydactyly and jaw abnormalities. Ankylosis inherited as an autosomal recessive has been reported in Suffolk sheep. Dx by physical exam and genetic history. In addition to heredity, environmental agents can also cause this syndrome. Consumption by sows of poison hemlock (CONIUM MACULATUM), wild black cherries, (PRUNUS SEROTINA), jimsonweed (DATURA STRAMONIUM), or tobacco (NICOTINIA TABACUM) stalks has caused congenital arthrogryposis in piglets. Grazing of SHORGHUM pastures has been associated with congenital arthrogryposis in cattle, horses and sheep. Congenital arthrogryposis can be a cause of dystocia in the mother. |
