| 英文描述 | Dermatosis vegetans is a skin disease of Landrace and Landrace cross pigs which is hereditary. At birth or a few days later affected piglets have raised circumscribed skin lesions similar to ringworm and irregularly ridged hooves with reddened coronary bands, worse in the front feet. Usually progressive and fatal, with death due to giant-cell pneumonia at 6-7 weeks of age. Pigs which recover reamain stunted. Dx by clinical examination and ruling out other causes. Pulmonary multinucleate giant cells are a character- istic of this disease and are found at necropsy (Evensen and Bratberg). There is no treatment, but the condition is inherited as an autosomal recessive, and sows and boars producing affected piglets should be eliminated from the breeding program (Scott). |
