| 英文描述 | Transmissible gastroenteritis virus is a common cause of diarrhea in pigs. Affects all ages but significant deaths only in suckling pigs, with the severity of disease inversely related to the age of the animals infected; almost all susceptible piglets under 10 days of age die within 7 days of exposure to the virus, and about half of pigs 10-21 days of age die. May become endemic, with sporadic diarrhea in older animals, or cause post-weaning diarrhea in contaminated nurseries. Virus is a member of CORONAVIRUS group, and causes signs by destroying enterocytes on villi of the small intestine, causing villous atrophy. Dx by identification of virus. There's no specific treatment. Purposefully exposing all animals to the virus and vaccination have been used for control when this disease is epizootic in a herd. |
