Generalized disease can occur as an outbreak in several litters, with death, anemia and edema as prominant signs. Systemic signs have also been seen in older animals during outbreaks. CYTOMEGALOVIRUS is a Herpesvirus, and diagnosis by inclusion bodies in exfoliated nasal cells or identification of the virus. Early post-natal or congenital infection has been associated with abortions and weak newborns. |
