| 英文描述 | Sporadic cases of idiopathic rectal prolapse are common in swine, particularly in animals from 2-7 months old. The rate of prolapse in young pigs is highest in winter and autumn. In one herd, 1% of pigs 12-28 weeks old prolapsed, 9.1 cases per 100,000 days at risk (Gardner et al.). In that large study population there was no evidence that diarrhea or coughing increased the risk of prolapse. In sows, prolapse is most common following parturition and when sows are tethered in a stall with a slope that puts the hind end of the sow lower than the front. Even after prolapse occurs there is often little straining, unless the rectum is traumatized. |
