| 英文描述 | Cats, most from cat colonies in research centers, developed a nervous disease characterized by progressive ataxia and paresis, occasional fits, head shaking and defective vision. Most affected cats were from 3-12 months of age, although younger and older animals were occasionally involved. In most cats there was axonal degeneration of tracts in the spinal cord and/or the brain stem, as well as the white matter of the cerebrum and to a lesser extent that of the cerebellum (Palmer and Cavanaugh). In some animals there was loss of Purkinje cells and neuronal loss in the spinal cord. The cause is unknown and no treatment was described (Palmer and Cavanaugh). |
