| 英文描述 | Chronic renal failure results from the destruction of functional renal tissue leading to a uremic condition which is eventually incompatible with life. Clinical disease can develop slowly or have a rapid onset. Caused by progressive renal disease or repeated or severe insult from nonprogressive renal disease (e.g. heavy metals, nephrotoxic antimicrobials). In severe cases there might be neurologic signs due to uremic encephalopathy. End-stage kidneys are typically small and firm, often with an irregular surface; neoplasia can enlarge kidneys. Uremic pneumonitis-like syndrome has been described in dogs, and paw calcification has been reported in cats. |
