Most common types include apocrine cyst, adenoma, adenocarcinoma, and eccrine adenoma and adenocarcinoma. Other histopathologic classifications are possible, and are differentiated by histopathology. Apocrine gland neoplasia tends to be a solitary lesion of the back or flank. Apocrine cysts tend to be multiple on the head and neck. Tumors tend to be benign in dogs, but malignant in cats.
