| 英文描述 | Nigropallidal Encephalomalacia is associated with ingestion of yellow star thistle (CENTAUREA SOLSTITIALIS) or Russian knapweed (C. REPENS) in the western U.S. Horses develop a wooden expression. Dx by history of access to plant and necrosis of the substantia nigra and globus pallidus on necropsy. Onset of loss of fine motor control of prehension and mastication of food may be rapid. Can be secondary pneumonia. |
