| 英文描述 | Guttural pouches are air-filled diverticula of the auditory tubes that communicate between the middle ear and the pharynx. The most common cause of guttural pouch bleeding is erosion of a vessel due to fungal or bacterial infections. Two horses are described which developed bleeding from the maxillary artery following surgery to ligate the carotid artery. The cause was unknown, but could have been due to bacterial infection, parasite migration, or irritation due to the catheter used in surgery. Dx by endoscopy or surgery. |
