| 英文描述 | Foals with severe renal disease, diarrhea, or iatrogenic water overload, often due to administration of water enemas, can develop seizures. Hyponatremia (Na <110 mEq/L) and hypochloremia (<90 mEq/L) are present, and azotemia will be detected in cases with renal failure. Generalized severe seizures can begin abruptly in an otherwise healthy foal. Dx by analysis of serum electrolytes. Treat simple water overload with slow correction of sodium and chloride levels using normal saline IV (Mayhew). |
