| 英文描述 | Severe life-threatening anemia can be caused in horses by the administration of recombinant human erythropoietin. Affected horses have been racehorses, and the drug was presumably administered in the belief that it would enhance performance. The mechanism of toxicity is unknown, but might involve development of antibodies to endogenous erythropoietin. Cessation of administration of recombinant human erythropoietin might be followed by resolution of the anemia (Piercy et al.). |
