| 英文描述 | Bronchopulmonary dysplasia is a chronic lung disease that develops over days to weeks following a diverse set of respiratory insults in the neonate. Diagnosis in the living animal is made by cytological examination of material obtained by respiratory washing and aspiration; there is epithelial hypertrophy, hyperplasia, metaplasia and dysplasia with necrosis, pulmonary edema and hyaline membrane formation. The cytological findings are similar to those in human bronchopulmonary dysplasia. No specific treatment was described (Freeman et al.). A foal with probable impaired for incomplete surfactant development was also hypothyroid (Murray). |
