| 英文描述 | A prolonged interestrus phase in mares has been described in the veterinary literature as 'persistent luteal phase' and 'persistence of the corpus luteum' but there is no convicing evidence of a prolonged life span of an equine corpus luteum. In a study of 69 interovulatory intervals there were no cases of persistence of the primary corpus luteum. There were however prolonged interovulatory intervals due to prolonged follicular phases, hemorrhagic follicles, and late diestrus ovulation (Ginther and Pierson). Diagnosis of these conditions is made by sequential ultrasound examination. |
