| 英文描述 | Physeal dysplasia, also known as physitis or epiphysitis, is characterized by enlargement of the growth plates in the long bones and vertebrae. In foals 3-6 months of age the distal metacarpal and metatarsal bones and the proximal first phalanges are affected. Horses 8-20 months of age are usually affected in the distal radius and distal tibia (von Matthiessen). From 1 to all 4 limbs can be affected. Signs can range from very mild to severe, with the animal spending extensive time lying down. |
