| 英文描述 | African Horse Sickness is caused by a member of the ORBIVIRUS genus in the virus family REOVIRIDAE transmitted by biting midges of the genus CULICOIDES. Endemic in Africa, but occasionally escapes to other areas, and has been reported from Spain and Portugal. Characterized by fever and edema, with severe myocarditis, although in some cases there is a mild influenza-like syndrome followed by recovery. Dx by identification of the virus by regulatory veterinarians. |
