| 英文描述 | Diffuse alveolar and interstitial disease causes progressive respiratory distress in horses. There is often a sudden onset of respiratory signs with progressive deterioration over 2-7 weeks. There might be 2 types of this syndrome; one in foals, typically 6 days to 9 months old, and an adult form affecting horses 2 years old and above. Radiography showed increased interstitial density throughout all lung parts. Transtracheal washes showed no bacteria and low cellularity, with neutrophils, macrophages, and plasma cells predominating. Definitive diagnosis requires histologic evaluation of a lung biopsy. The cause is unknown. This syndrome is morphologically distinct from chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. |
