| 英文描述 | Both Equine Herpesvirus-1 and EHV-4 cause upper respiratory tract infection and disease. EHV-1 also causes abortions, a neurologic syndrome and chorioretinopathy. EHV-4 only rarely causes sporadic abortions and has not been associated with neurologic disease, but has been responsible for EHV respiratory outbreaks in young horses. Abortion could have been preceded by inapparent infection in mares. Secondary bacterial infection can lead to mucopurulent nasal discharge. Foals infected in utero might be weak and die during the first few weeks of life. CNS form can occur without respiratory signs; there is a vasculitis evident on histopathology of the spinal cord. Onset is usually sudden, and can be asymmetrical. In rare cases there is evidence of brain disease. |
