| 英文描述 | Four foals were described which had sterile inflammation of many joints. There was stiffness only, with no overt lameness, and joints were distended. Affected foals were 1-3 months of age. Foals had no rheumatoid factor or antinuclear antibody titers, and lupus erythematosus cell preparations were negative. Synovial fluid analysis showed mild increases in nucleated cell count (predominantly well-preserved neutophils). Histologic examination of the synovium revealed mild lymphoplasmacytic synovitis, and the presence of immunoglobulin was verified in the synovial membrane of 3 foals. In all cases the polysynovitis was associated with an infection at a site other than the joints. Transient improvement with glucocorticoid treatment was reported in the one foal which survived the primary non-joint infection. A similar syndrome was reported in a horse (Lumsden). |
