| 英文描述 | A series of horses and ponies had colic due to chronic intestinal fibrosis. There was usually a history of chronic weight loss and recurrent colic. Thickening of the intestine might be palpable per rectum. Small intestinal malabsorption might not be demonstrated by D-xylose absorption tests in horses with small-intestinal fibrosis (Johnson et al.). Dx and treatment require surgery. On necropsy or excision biopsy there is submucosal fibrosis of the small intestine. |
