| 英文描述 | Silicosis is caused by inhalation of particulate inorganic dusts, specifically the crystalline form of silicon dioxide (Berry et al.). Silicosis was reported in horses. Radiographically there was a diffuse interstitial pulmonary pattern with an underlying reticulonodular or miliary component. Transtracheal washes, lung biopsies or bronchoalvolar lavage can be used to search for intracellular crystalline material. In one study a high percentage of horses were positive, although repeated trans- tracheal washes were needed in some cases (Berry et al.). There are birefringent, eosinophilic, intracytoplasmic inclusions of silicon dioxide within pulmonary macrophages. |
