| 英文描述 | Cecal perforation in the horse occurs as 3 syndromes. 1) Mares may develop the disease as a primary entity at the time of parturition, usually within 24 hours after foaling or in late gestation. 2) It may be secondary to diseases causing failure of cecal outflow, leading to filling and perforation. This latter group may have had clinical signs which did not point to gastrointestinal illness prior to rupture. A large firm cecum, crepitus and gritty peritoneal or serosal surfaces may be palpable. 3) Spontaneous cecal perforation has occurred 24-48 hours after nonabdominal surgical procedures requiring general anesthesia. The prognosis is very poor. |
